Tom Johnson MIVR, (Chairman Britannia Rescue)

More than 25 years ago that the Civil Service Motoring Association, decided that they should provide there own breakdown/ Recover Service for their members. Tom and three other were responsible for setting it up.

He gave staff the ability to decide the gravity of the situation and make the necessary decision without reference back, this meant that there was no delay in giving the member the very best service. The Agents responded well to this initiative and a level of mutual trust quickly developed with the trade that still exists today.

Having retired form the civil Service Tom was able to devote much of his time to the recovery industry, and says "I hope that in some small way I have managed to pay back all the help and friendship that I have received from this industry".

Andy Lambert FIVR (Retired MD MTS)

He attended his first breakdown in 1965 and a few years later founded the National Rescue Group. In 1986 he started Motor Trade Software and developed the 'industry standard' software, Garage Manager and Turbo Dispatch.

In the early nineties he achieved the 'near imposable', by getting all the motoring organisations to agree on the Turbo Dispatch Standard. During 2002 he sold Motor Trade Software to concentrate on Mobile Tracking Systems and then in 2007, he sold that company and is now retired.

His involvement with charity, started in 1983, when he joined the volunteer team at Brooklands Museum. Since then he has been responsible for the transportation of nearly all their major exhibits, largely assisted by his many friends in the recovery industry.
